How to "Improve Sentences" in SAT Writing

Would anyone be so kindly to explain their strategies in getting the right solutions for "Improving Sentences" in SAT Writing Section.

I am having trouble picking the best one among the 5 choices.

Thanks a million.

This part is actually the easiest section of any part of the SAT for me. Often times, but not always, the correct answer choice is the shortest of the ones they give you. Also, at least half of the sentences they give you don't make any sense if you have a decent understanding of English grammar. Keep an eye out for the common wrong answers -- dangling participles, poor wording, etc.

Thanks for the advice, any other ones guys? It's so complex...

Identify the subject of the sentence, and about 3/4 of the errors revolve around it (wrong adjective, wrong use of verb...).

The subject eh? cool...

What helps people get 800s in this section?

I guess I'm good at it because I read a lot or something, but these are almost always glaringly obvious. I see people with 800's in math and verbal who have low scores in writing, and I am boggled.

yeah 80% of the time they pop out at you

Learn your idioms as well, sometimes SAT will try and trip you up with these.
