in other words, if i win a smaller tourn, how would i word it on the app?

There will be an awards and honors section in the app. The most important awards should be listed first. If you mena that the award is obscure and not known outside your community, so could say it like this: 1st Place, Winter Open Chess Tournament, Smith County Championship, 11/15." I can’t remember how many characters you have, but I am guessing it’s about 100?
And if it there are too many to list separately you can bunch some similar ones together
