How to narrow down searches further?

Sometimes I search a key word, and when the results come up, the word can be in one of several pages of results in each post. I don't have time to click through a ton of pages to find one answer (which I'm glad they highlight in red). I will sometimes ask about a college and a person says to check the archives which I obviously have already tried to do, but it's hard to find meaningful content when it is buried in several pages on some of the posts.

Is there a way to target only that information and not the rest? I hope this question makes sense.

Not the best search system. Usually you should try "advanced search." put in key word space two or three words that might appear like you would with Google; also usually limit it to last six months to begin with simply because virtually any topic has a tendency to come up again every six months. Once to a thread, just above the first entry to the right is a box you can click to then just search for something in that thread and you will then get page showing entries in the thread that have your new search.

I have never had any luck with the cc search function. If it's an old thread I've posted on but can't find, I Google "college confidential youdon'tsay blah blah blah"

If you are trying to find a specific college, I would select 'show results as posts' and limit the search to particular forums (Hold down ctrl and select the forums you want from the list on the advanced search page). That way you have an idea of whether the post is relevant before you open the thread because you can see the first few lines of it, and you don't have to scroll through pages of the results list that are all 'Chance Me' posts with their lists of colleges.
