Besides doing prep books, what else can i do to prepare for the SAT?
Should i read a lot? What kinds of stuff do i read? Should i memorize vocab?

Read only very politically correct, mind-numbing novels and memorize the esoteric words that pretty much only appear on the National Spelling Bee.
Seriously though, I think I caught you’re a freshman in HS? You should be focusing on studying well, getting good grades, enjoying life, finding your passions, etc…you shouldn’t spend the majority of your HS career prepping for the SAT.
@MITer94 okayz
Start practicing with actual ACT exams. Mark my words. The two will be eerily similar. Rote memorization of vocab won’t be so effective anymore. Rather, the understanding of words that are not so difficult but used in various contexts will be more important.
Of course, I hope I’m wrong and hope that the new SAT isn’t dumbed down to look like the current ACT, but then again, why not give equal opportunity a try and make the test so easy that it puts all the expensive private tutors and test prep academies out of business? Isn’t that what the Common Core Curriculum and Leave No Child Behind are all about?
Exactly, word for word, what MITer94 recommended.
I think MITer94’s recommendation is solid, but I would add a few of mine. Your best friend for mastering the SAT is practice test, so do them as much as possible. For vocabulary, get started now – princeton review’s wordsmart was especially helpful for me. Start doing 30 words a day and reviewing them, and you’ll be able to master the vocabulary section of reading in no time.
I suppose you know this already, but the new SAT guide book by the college board won’t be out there until June of this year.
