How to prepare your teacher recs?

ok yes i know there have been threads before me on this. anyway i need to know a few things that i haven't totally figured out: I have regular, business sized envelopes that i'm going to put into my printer to print each school's address onto, then I'll get the postage. First, should i be putting the postage stamps on the envelope or just include them when i give the materials to my teachers? Also, for the cover letter, what exactly should it have on it? I was thinking just my name, my schools and their deadlines i'm applying for each, and a quick thank you on the bottom... any advice? thanks

To your “first”: either way, it doesn’t matter (Personally, just included the stamps in case the envelope has issues. The teacher won’t care though) Also on envelope, make sure that the school is okay with business envelopes (most are, but some prefer the big ones).

To your “second”: That’s good, but may also include anything else that will help them write you a good recommendation.

if you are using the common app, the preferred method is to invite your teachers online and ask them to submit by email. Even so, you would still want to give your teachers a hard copy of your cover letter (your thoughts are good on this) and possibly a short resume.

alright if they ask for a resume of sorts i can make one, but i asked them last week if they needed anything specific and they said no so we’ll see… and for the cover letter again, should it be formatted pretty basic? nothing special right, just times new roman and a typical outline? thanks

basic format is fine. And, I’d go ahead and do a simple resume for them. It can’t hurt. Rec letters are so much better when they provide specifics about ways that you get involved or go above and beyond.
