Alright well i took SATs first time in january and got a 2110 - 720m 700cr 690w. I was pretty happy with that but would love to improve to make up for a slightly weaker gpa and ec load. whats the best way to improve, preferably without wasting $1000 on a class? I really didnt do any prep for the first time except a few practice tests. I hear the blue book is good. is that my best bet? i also had a time management problem. any tips? thansk

If you did that well the first time around, you don't need a prep class. I would definitely use the blue book tests. For timing, try the Princeton Review techniques, esp. for process of elimination. Very useful.

as long as you're motivated to work hard, you definitely don't need a prep course

blue book is good for math and verbal; way too easy for writing though (at least i thought so)

in fact, the blue book's verbal is even harder than the actual test's verbal (in January) so it's great prep unless they make the verbal a lot harder...

try princeton's 11 practice tests (their math sucks! way too many errors in solutions) or kaplan's 12 tests for writing, or just a writing workbook (though i've never tried any of these)

best way to prep is to keep on doing practice tests, then you get more used to the tricks and nuances of the test so you improve...
