How to read faster?

Hey guys, I'm a Freshman in college, and while we had reading to do in high school, obviously it was nothing compared to the amount we have now.

I'm a very slow reader, because my brain will not let me go to the next sentence unless I've fully understood the sentence before it, which gets annoying. I often have to reread each sentence multiple times which takes so much time.

Now that I'm getting bombarded by readings, I'm wondering if there's any way to teach yourself to read faster?

Thanks!

The way to become a better reader is to read more. Be patient.

I read plenty and I’ve been a reader my whole life. I’ve always read slowly, it’s just that it was never a problem until now, that’s why I’m asking.

You might want to try practice skimming instead of reading for full comprehension. Don’t read dense things, try just skimming a bunch of news articles every day.

Google “read faster”. There are several new aps and programs (free) to enhance your reading speed.
