Hello! Trying to schedule my audition…but it’s like, four hundred dollars or more to travel to the Greensboro airport from Seattle. And then what about hotels? I’m going by myself, so I can’t exactly rent a car either. Will the school let me stay in the dorms that night?

This is a very expensive, inconvenient trip! Any help?

Did you check if flying into Raleigh/Durham is cheaper? There are no hotels in Elon, only a B&B, The Acorn Inn(336)585-0167 It runs $94/n Sun-Thur & $109/n Fr & Sat. They also offer a shuttle service, if you stay with them $50/Greensboro, $65/Raleigh each way. The Acorn Inn is 2 blocks from school and very safe to walk. There are places to eat within walking distance. My son did the travel alone audition many times last year, including Elon. It cost us a ton, but was worth every penny. He ended up at Elon and loves it. He wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Hi Ninny -- I think noccamtmom's suggestion might be your best bet. Even if Elon would arrange for it, sleeping on the floor in a strangers dorm room the night before your audition might not put you in the best form the next day.

Also -- the Acorn Inn shuttle service looks less expensive than most commercial shuttle/ limo service from the airport to Elon. You may find that the Inn and their shuttle is less expensive than a private limo service and staying in a dorm.

In terms of flights -- it appears to be MUCH less expensive to fly into Raleigh/ Durham... If you go to Kayak.com you can run the trips, and they will give you the differences in costs on multiple airlines.

I agree with the above - RDU airport is usually cheaper, and I've posted many times about how wonderful the Acorn Inn is, and that goes for their shuttle, too. I definitely trust and recommend those people!

look on the web site as they have a discount with thrifty car rental and under 25 can rent via this program, but I think you still have to be 21.
