My school currently has no club dedicated solely to science. I am really interested in started some type of science club at my school. Any ideas?

Well gather a group of friends who are also interested in creating a science club so you can tell the school why they need it. Your school wants to make sure making a new club is worth it, so with a few friends, they can see that there are kids who would like a science club. Also, get a teacher who can proctor your club. I’m not sure if some schools allow clubs to be solely run by kids, but in my school, you need atleast one teacher. Finally, make sure you have some ideas what you want to do in your club. Make a list of what activities, field trips, discussion, etc your club might have to make it interesting and make more kids join. The good thing about making your own club is that it is an automatic EC that involves leadership since you created and looked over everything that went about. Also make sure you make signs and stuff to post around the school to advertise your new club. If you don’t, barely anyone will hear about it! Good luck.

Thanks for the insight

Check with your ASB/USB, whatever you call it. They might have club application forms you’ll have to fill out. For my school, if you want to make a club, you’d have to fill that out and state a missions statement, etc.

Good luck! Starting clubs are fun :)

Yea, I’m starting a Science Olympiad Team. We are already having a summer yard sale as a fundraiser. A lot of the times, you’ll be surprised how many members you can actually get. A good idea is to allow your members to take the USABO/USNCO/USAPhO (The Bio, Chem, and Physics olympiads). Google them and find the main websites, and you can register your school for them. Just get a teacher to be your advisor and plan some good fundraisers and fun activities, and you’ll have a successful club! Good luck to a fellow science club founder!
