How to stay motivated?

I'm in community college now and have been for years. Finally stopped smoking and pulling up my grades. But how can I stay motivated to keep on doing well everyday for 4 more years? I lack the patience to wait for something special to happen. Any tips will be completely appreciated!

I think an important thing would be to realize that you don’t have to “wait for something special to happen.” Odds are nothing magical is going to just happen to you. You have to make something happen. It’s important to have some sort of goal that you are working for, and if you know what you are working towards, then that can really help to keep your motivation up.

You said that you have been at community college for years. Are you working towards a particular degree or are you trying to transfer to a four year university? Do you know what you would like to do after community college? Figuring that out will likely help you to define a goal that you can work towards and that may do wonders for your motivation.

Yeah I have a goal of either becoming some kind of manager for a corporation or an engineer. But those things seem so far away. Theres not much of a social life at my school so it’s really difficult to think about things that help the time pass by. I am also looking to transfer to a university in about 1 and a half years that I have left. But even that seems far away. I just want everything now, which seems to be my biggest problem. Again, any help is greatly appreciated!
