How to Study for the SAT?

Hello, I have took the "SAT I" last year and scored kind of bad.

CR: 450
M: 550
W: 470
Total : 1470

When I took the practice test online I got a 1780.(but thats because I went over the time limit.)

I have recently gotten "The College board Official SAT study" ........

How should I study ? a couple pages a day, chapters,etc...... please help.
The next test is October 10, 2009....

Please help....Thanks!

i took the SATs twice (CR:690 M:750 W:750) and i’d say the best thing to do is just do as many practice problems as you can. it’s probably best to do them in the closest environment to the actual testing (ie. not online. sitting at a table, filling in bubbles, having a watch on you, etc). to be honest i’d definitely suggest buying the princeton review book because i thought it was really helpful in giving the advice you need to get the right answers. collegeboard and kaplan and others give all this BS about the SATs being about reasoning and intelligence and princeton review is just like “SATs are not about how much you know. they’re about getting right answers.” and it is, don’t be discouraged that the first time wasn’t what you wanted. you’ll almost definitely do better the second time just because you’ve done it before.

i’d say work with what’s get best for you. maybe cover a chapter every time you sit down (a couple times a week maybe since you have all summer) and then a couple practice sections too. something like that. i think it’s best to learn a chunk of material and then practice it until you know it. once you learn how to take the test it’ll all sort of seem the same. good luck!

Ya, I recommend the blue book for doing the practice problems. Also make sure that you set a time limit and do the entire test in one sitting (like a real test). Don’t do 2 sections, get up and watch TV for an hour and come back and do 2 more sections.
