I was attending BYU after high school. Because of AP tests and my ACT score I started as a sophomore. I completed my first semester with a good GPA. During my second semester I was suspended for violating the section of the Honor Code regarding same gender attraction. While I felt the suspension was fair, they gave me a long list of hoops I would need to jump through in order to return. I decided to instead focus on becoming worthy to serve a mission, which I know am. I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how to transfer to another school in this situation. I don’t have enough credits to count as a junior since I was suspended, and I know a lot of universities will see that I was suspended and not look any further than that. I don’t know just some advice would be appreciated.
An honor code violation is not an academic suspension and it won’t count against you. All you have to do is transfer out. University of Utah admits BYU honor code violators all the time. BYU has a reputation of being heavy handed and a lot of students go to the U so they can feel like actual adults.
