How tough are the classes at UF?

I am wondering how tough are the classes at UF?

The difficulty of your courses will largely be dependent on your chosen field of study/major. I know many of the sciences at UF are particularly rigorous, like engineering, the pre-med route, etc.

What makes UF stand out from the rest of the other public universities in Florida is the quality of its student body. The student body here are very competitive and that can make curves a bit harsh in some of your difficult classes as there are a lot of very motivated students who are grad school driven.

Thanks. I am thinking about majoring in Finance w/ a minor in Public Relations.

we have a good finance program. its not as rigorous as engineering or math, but its still a very good program.

I can deal with that. What about telecommunications?

I hear the Telecommunications program is really good. The difficulty varies class to class as some professors make classes more difficult than others. Always use Ratemyprofessor to compare, and try to talk to people who actually took the class to get a sense of the grading scale and what you’re getting yourself into. I took a Philosophy class last semester for example, and received a C in it. I received A’s in every other class, but the grading scale in that course was harsh! Some intro classes are best avoided because they can be weedout courses, or unnecessarily difficult like Precalculus for example.

Way back when, the first calculus and the first chemistry were the weed out courses for engineering majors.

If this is still the case? Make sure to be prepared to dedicate time and effort on these two classes.

How are the engineering class ie organic chem, transport phenomenon ,calc3 ,diff equations etc. A lot of on your own learning, what teachers are the best.

how difficult is chemical engineering at UF?
