How tough is it to receive the Presidential Scholarship?

Ooh nice! congrats  What school are you attending at Drexel (you dont have to share if you don’t want to)

College of Arts and Sciences. Are the PSs regulated by the colleges? (so a maximum per college?)

Thanks for sharing  Yeah, I believe it’s a select number of students per college, which is why they had us list our college on the cover sheet.

Congrats greenangel; now onto a third day of waiting…

On a side note, was the email personally written to you or did it seem sort of generic?

^ along with boone’s question, did you get an email back when you first sent your essay? Im getting scared that my essay never sent now

@boone: it seemed just a tad generic, only because it never mentioned anything specific to me but that seems to be the norm with all college e-mails.

@collegeboound: no i did not.

Well congrats anyway greenangel :)

congrats again also! thanks for answering. for the rest of us, lets hope we hear something soon!

I finally got an answer! too bad its bad news, but oh well :(

No-go for me too; they could have just sent it out on Monday…

Nothing for me either. I would probably be less annoyed if they had sent the e-mail out on Monday.

However, that grammatical error at the end of the e-mail made my day: “If you have any questions about Drexel or this process, please me.”

Hey everybody! I’m new to the site. I actually only made an account to respond on this thread. I received the AJ Drexel scholarship for $28,000 a year, but even this is going to put me in debt after college with the leftover tuition and housing. The co-op will pay for at least one year and then the rest I’ll have to pay off after college. =/ I noticed that some people got the AJ Drexel and found out that they got the Presidential later. Then I saw you all talking about emails that you were supposed to receive March 1 or 2. What was this email for? I just found out that I got into Drexel last weekend and I just got my letter yesterday that informed me of my scholarship. Does this mean I didn’t get the Presidential scholarship, because it seems like you were all waiting to hear back on it in the past couple of days.

Also, is anyone going to the Accepted Students Day on Sunday? I live in Florida but I think I’m flying out…

We were all notified in January that we were Presidential Scholarship nominees and we were supposed to find out if we were chosen on Monday. I suppose that because you did not apply soon enough that you were unable to be chosen as a nominee as well.

I saw some people mentioned receiving snail mail invites in January. How late in January did you receive them and did you apply with VIP or common app (VIP does not include activities but common app does)…?

I don’t think they do the Presidential anymore. Just looked on the website, and the only full-tuition scholarships given are : Engineering, low-income Philadelphia student, Cancer survivor, and National Merit Finalist.

Am really stuck with this on my mind. If an accepted student gets more than 1 scholarship plus a need grant from a school, will the school combine all the amount towards his total cost of education? Say,someone gets Drexel grant :$2300, AJ Drexel :20000 and probably Drexel global leader scholarship
: full tuition. How does this work?

My daughter was accepted EA with a Presidential Scholarship, but it was NOT full tuition. It was $24,900 per year. In addition, she’s receiving a $12,000 grant. All together a great aid package, but not full tuition. I don’t think Drexel gives that anymore–or it is called something else?

The financial aid award letter came at the time she was notified of admission in December.

@oheneba In such situations, all your expenses are covered. You will be on a full ride scholarship.

My son got some scholarship money when he was accepted EA, but it amounted to 20K per year including his loans. That brought it down to 8K above another college he applied to, so he went there.

My son got his acceptance info first from Drexel, then the FA info was delayed about a week. Actually, they sent a paper letter with the FA info the same day the online FA info was released.
