I am a rising international senior. I gave the ACT and got 36 across all 4 sections (composite of 36.0) and a 31 in the writing section. How useful will this score be for the Ivies, Stanford and CalTech as compared to say a 35?
I have an unweighted GPA of 3.93; will ACT make up for my bad GPA?
I agree with the others. There comes a point when as long as your score is high enough, colleges don’t particularly care about one or two points. Besides, your gpa is great! Your application is already strong in that regard.
please realize that Caltech accepts only about 7% of International UG student applicants.
Other top tier colleges accept similar %'s of International students. If your goal is to come to the US for your UG education you will have to cast a wider net than just those colleges, and have $$ in the bank to pay for a college education here .
what will hurt your application the most is the fact that you are an International applicant. And S and Caltech reject most International students, simply because there are so many applicants from the US and overseas and only so many overall spots open.
So , as I said before, you will need to apply to many other US colleges IF you want to study in the US. If the ONLY colleges you want to apply to are S and Caltech, then good luck, but dont be surprised if you are not accepted by them.
USC, [ which is also in S Calif] has many International students .
No, I am trying to ensure that I have a sensible balance of reach and safety in my list of colleges. Although I may be deviating from the topic of the thread, would you happen to know colleges which are safer to apply to as an international student?
