Supposing these volunteer hours are of course verified (eg. you have a PVSA award for those respective times) and all fall in line with what your focus has been throughout high school (social entrepreneurship, politics, or world hunger etc.). I know two teens with 4000 volunteer hours and a question that commonly pops up is “Do colleges see all these extra volunteer hours as excess or as something that proves passion?”
So, does it matter how many volunteer hours you have? Is it more impressive to have many more than your high school’s bare minimum? What is the bare minimum for top colleges? A maximum?
