In-state students... please tell us what we might expect next weekend.

The weekend was very nice. We met a lot of the faculty/staff of the university and honors college, ate a lot of food and were kept busy with information sessions, tours, mock classes and the interview. The day before the interview we had a dinner with assigned seats and had different faculty members at the tables....our table was great for my daughter--too bad our table mates weren't the interviewers.....The interview consisted of three faculty members and my daughter....she really liked one of her interviewers(they seemed to have similar interests)---she doesn't think the other 2 people liked her much. We had a nice time and you will enjoy your trip.

I was a parent at last years McNair weekend..is there anything specific you would like to know?

You're sweet to try and help me. I don't really have many questions -- I'm just not very patient!!

What did everyone wear? I'm planning on dress slacks and a blazer/sweater for me each day. I don't know what D is going to choose.

We'll be there in 72 hours. I'd better start a list so H can keep the household running.

My youngest is taking a pre-ACT test (6th grade gifted program) on Saturday... I wonder how much the ACT corp will get from our family by the time she's in college?

warning..its going to be warm and rainy.Bring an umbrella or at least a hooded type jacket.
daytime temps in the low 70's,chance of rain each day.you may be too warm in your sweater/blazer.you can be more casual during the day, especially the day you will tour..it'll get sweaty and hot by the time you're done.Wear comfy shoes during the day ,you do alot of walking.Bbring something a little more "upscale" for the formal dinner, men were wearing suits.I brought dress pant, shoes and a nice blouse/camisole thing I would wear out to a celebration type dinner.S wore a suit to the dinner and a suit to the interview, then trapsed around in his suit all day, sweating.Girls def dressed up but two girls made the mstake of wearing prom type dresses and looked way out of place..one put a sweater on over her dress for the whole night. The kids have down time in the evenings and will want to be casual.
Try not to be impatient..you will have a great time! You are vvery lucky..the Inn you are staying in is quite nice and right on campus.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
and look for S at the initial reception..hes the cute Sports Mgmt major with the blue eyes!!!
You will be treated very very well and as noted above, you will eat very well.

I checked the weather again.they lowered temp estimates to high 60's but still rainy ,so I dont know how that affects your choice of clothing.Definitely bring the umbrella/hooded jacket..we were soaked at points last year.
