I heard that it's the most "boring" of all your High School career, because you don't have the "new and shiny" feel of being a Freshman, the excitement of College-Tours and Standardized Testing (when I say excitement, I'm not necessarily saying jubilance) of Junior Year or the "YES. Graduation!" adrenaline kick of Senior Year.

I think mine was pretty good. With only a month and a half left, it seemed to be pretty successful. I’m going to finish in the class rankings where i wanted to be, and i became a lot more active in clubs. Which has granted me many opportunities, and awesome trips that I have been a part of. It wasn’t that boring for me really. I didn’t have the feeling of being the smallest fish in a big pond anymore. I felt that i truly got the high school experience.

Last year was fine for me. Junior year has actually been easier in the amount of work for me aside from anxiety about college and standardized tests. Got 3 B’s, 2 in English, one in German. Managed to be one of I think 2 or 3 kids to get an A in my German class second semester.

That A made sophomore year worth it for me.

Currently as a Freshman, I have obligations at home that prohibit me from joining Clubs or Sports, as well as other vital aspects of High School (such as staying after school for extra help or checking grades, visiting different colleges that come to our school to talk about their respective College, or just going to see my Friend at his Football game) – however, next year, (Sophomore Year) - I’ll be able to do all of this, with no after school obligation, I’ll be able to get the “new and shiny” feel of the wonderful world of extracurriculars.

I’ll also be in AP courses, which in comparison to the Honors courses our School offers, is a whole different world. I’ll be in Electives I actually like (I took Studio Art this year, and it was terrible. I’ll be in Foundations of Law next year, shweet!) and I’m really hoping Sophomore Year will be awesome :D

Not that Freshman Year wasn’t, I’m just hoping 10th grade will be even better.

I was the same way preamble, but for me, it wasn’t that i had obligations, but i was a little slower at making new friends so i wasn’t as involved. But now i am involved and love it.

And same way with electives! Last year i had to take Intro to Busniess…blah. Seems helpful but its so boring. Next year ill be taking psychology and AP Euro as electives, so excited! Sad part is my school doesn’t have that many good electives…

Our school doesn’t have too many electives, if you aren’t a Business Person or an Art Person, (most of our electives are in those two departments), you’re at a loss. I’m not fond of Business, I’m not really a Math Person, and as for Art, I could care less. All of our “English” electives like, The Mystery of Mystery Literature is based on Senior Privilege, but they just created Foundations of Law as well as Forensic Science, so I was quick to jump on that bandwagon and ditch Art.

For the friends part, I have a set or group of friends that I’m really close to, but the problem is, I always feel “left out” because they’re all part of the same clubs and sports, so they are always together before, during, and after school, and I feel as though I’m not “in the loop”, aha.

What clubs / sports do you partake in?

Another problem for me is balancing Sports and Club (or attempting to plan it out) because Sports Practice for most Sports offered at our school is a daily thing, and missing practice is like, taboo. And Clubs are the same way, they meet once or twice a week, and you get booted out if you miss a meeting more than twice D:

Same at my school. The majority of our electives are related to business, computers, art, family consumer science, and a little bit of English with a few social sciences and math. It seems pretty broad, but its mainly boring classes like Computers 101, or Word Processing, or maybe Food and Nutrition, with Financial Fitness. Yeah…not that exciting. There is one elective that is pretty cool, its called Genocide and Holocaust.

But with my friends, i am also in a close group. I stick with that group mainly, and thankfully were in the same clubs.

But as for clubs and sports lets see. I’m in
FBLA (not really a business person, but just the experience of being in the club is fun. Especially if you qualify for the state competition.)
Class Congress
Student Council
Spanish Club
Cross Country
What about you?

But that must really be hard. It can be annoying to balance everything out, but with the exception of XC the teachers tolerate it with a legit excuse

Oh Holocaust and Genocide sounds really interesting, actually. I love History, both World and U.S as well as anthropology, so Holocaust and Genocide sounds right up my alley.

So as of right now (as I’ve stated before) I’m in no clubs or sports. However, I intend on joining –

Biology Club
Civil Rights Club
Literary Society
Debate Team (I’m debating on this one. No pun intended)
Breast Cancer Awareness

I was considering actually starting a club, but I’m not too sure. If given the option to join clubs and sports without any hassle, I’d do Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track.

The only club we have here that has two meetings per day for Athletes and Non-Athletes is Key Club (volunteering) - and I have a dear friend of mine who is in Key Club, as a Freshman, she has the highest amount of Volunteering Hours than anyone else in the club (and the club has around 350 members) , she’s also an Officer, along with being a 3 season Athlete (and captain of two, respectively) , and maintaining a GPA of 3.5. It’s mind blowing. Aha.

Does your school have a Colorguard Team?
I have a very close friend of mine, in Marching Band, and he’s trying to persuade me to join Colorguard. Eh…

Darn. I wish Genocide and Holocaust was offered at our School. As of now, I’ll have to be content with my Foundations of Law studies.

Our school is really big on extracurriculars, we have countless sports, and even more clubs. But the funny thing is, all of these clubs are joined by the same group of people (for instance, a person in Gay Straight Alliance is probably in Key Club and BCA and vice versa) so out of our 50 clubs, it’s the same 100 students who are partake in most of them.

I was in Band in 5th Grade. I quit after two days, I tried taking up the Clarinet. I’m really kicking myself now, I would have loved to be in our High School’s Marching Band. Gah.

Sophomore academic year… in short… was bad. TT_TT
I thought I was working fairly hard… but looking back, I could’ve tried a lot harder.
I mean, I didn’t do horribly (mix of A’s and B’s), but that meant some reach schools became dream schools…
Oh well~ I’ll be happy and do well at any college I attend…! (Hopefully…!)

I acted in a play and made it to state in tennis… That’s pretty good (did that in freshman year as well though)… Slowly advancing through Japanese…
