How were you notified of your acceptance, defer, deny, or WL?

Hi everyone,

Just curious how the colleges that you applied to notified you of their decision. Did you first find out via snail mail, text, email, online application status, etc?

Also, what do you think about colleges taking the non-traditional route to notify you? How would you feel if you received an email or text BEFORE getting your acceptance packet or that denial letter?

Thanks,

I got sent an email by Northeastern saying my decision was ready on the application status check website they have set up. Followed a bunch of links, got an adobe document telling me I’d been waitlisted… I was really surprised, but I guess they knew they weren’t my first choice.

Edit: I prefer to find out electronically - it’s easier, no worrying about your letter getting lost or harassing the mailman.

One acceptance by mail, two by email. I have to say, although electronically is more convenient, it was FAR more exciting to receive the letter in the mail…in fact, I just found out about an acceptance online about 15 minutes ago, and although it was to a great school, I wasn’t expecting a decision this early and so it was slightly anticlimactic.

Mostly through email, snail mail, or online status.

I think all three are equally climatic, with the drama and anxiety intensified depending on how much you like the school.
