I am really scared for AP scores to be released this month.. I took 5 tests and I barely prepared for any. I think three should be 3~5, but the other two 1~3. Sigh.. if everything else is okay for my app. and im applying to not amazing, but good schools (i.e duke, northwestern, ucb, nyu etc) How will bad scores affect me :(?

They don’t look at your test scores to decide your app. They only care about the grade you had in the class. You could have A’s in all your AP classes and get 1’s on your test and still get accepted. Reporting scores are optional.

Like most colleges say, “AP test scores will only help you, not hurt you”. If you got a good score, go ahead and put them on your application. They will definitely benefit you. If you choose not to report them due to a low score, don’t worry. It doesn’t have the same severity as where a low SAT scores automatically gets you out of the running.

However, if you end up not reporting maybe 4/5 of your tests, it may be a “warning signal” to the admissions counselors. IMO, if you got a 3 or better, report

How can that be?

^

ACT English is easier than AP English.

28 ACT English and 4 AP English here, weird how that works sometimes. 750 SAT CR however.

I ended up getting 5/4/4/4/4 lol so I guess okay… but 4’s are meh.

Wait, do if u get a 2 or a 1 on the ap test does your grade IN THE CLASS show up? Because u failed the Ap test, or else they would know (oo u took the class, but u didn’t report score zomg u failed)

There is no deemed failure of an AP; there is only minimum scores that a college may accept if you want credit after you are admitted. Your high school grade in the class does not change based on the AP score. You are not required to report AP scores to any college for the purpose of admission.

^

I know that my grade won’t change, but my question is that if I Don’t report the score, does that take out my grade from the class too? Idk someone told me that it seems like u didn’t take the class at all

warlands
No. You still have the grade from the class, even if you didn’t report the score. Some AP classes require that you TAKE the test for it to be counted as a weighted score, but they don’t care what you do with the score reports. You can post them up all over town or stuff them in your closet. It doesn’t matter.
