How will raising 5000 dollars and donating it to local schools look?

Hello Everyone,
First of all, I would like to post a disclaimer saying, I already raised this money. I didn’t do it to look good on my application but because most of the counties in my state are severely underfunded.
I am from North Carolina and I live near counties with less than a 10 million dollar budget. Realizing this made me realize that helping the local schools would be worthwhile of my time. So far we have raised more than 5000 dollars and we are planning to donate it in the next month or so.
What I want to know is, could this potentially make a difference in my college admissions if I have acceptable grades for their college. Once again, I would like to state that I want to know if this could help me differentiate myself when applying to prestigious universities.
I would say I spent over 100 hours on this over the course of a year and a half.
Please let me know what you guys think.

It isn’t about the money or what you did with it. If that part was a large bump, a lot of parents would write a check to their kids charity. If you can convey something about the experience, that may be helpful.

The time you spent, the people and organizations you got involved, the events you organized, and the lesson you have learned from the fundraising will help. The end result of $5,000 or $50,000 will not.

I agree that your expereince raising the money – your reasons for doing so, the work it entailed, what you learned in the process etc. will be the basis for it being a meaningful extracurricular activity. If you are an academically qualified candidate having a good EC can be a plus in your application.

You’ve got good timing. I imagine a lot of schools in NC can really use that money now.

This is a good community service extra curricular.

Just to clarify our parens haven’t donated a single penny for this. In fact, my parents suggested to not waste time on this. I do understand that the experience is more important than the actual outcome of changing people’s lives?
