How will this club help me in my admissions process?

My parents are trying to force me into the science olympiad my senior year because they believe that it will help me get into the college i want. I have not however been part of it my freshman sophomore or junior year, and i know that colleges look for consistancy in after school activities like this, so if I were to join the olympiad my senior year, how much would it really help me, if at all? I personally feel like it would just be a waste of time because it is my senior year.

Honestly joining the science olympiad your senior year won’t help you out very much in the admissions process because most colleges will not see this, and yes you are right colleges do look for consistency in school activities, they don’t want to see that someone just joined a lot of clubs in their junior or senior year simply to look better to colleges.

While I highly doubt that it would have much effect on college admissions joining in senior year, it has been one of my favorite extracurriculars. If you enjoy the sciences, it is nearly impossible not to have fun in competition. Joining a club for admissions, regardless of the year, seems foolish to — if anything, I would imagine that colleges would want your extracurriculars to paint a better picture of who you are. If you’re applying to be a science major, it certainly isn’t going to hurt your chances, and you’re likely to come away with a great experience. Try looking at the club thinking about whether it seems like a good fit for you — if it is, go for it! Hope my rambling helps :)

Ok so if i were to do a summer program or like volunteer over the summer would that look better?

Maybe. Depends on the summer program and volunteer work and how much. But don’t do it if you are only doing it for your college application.
