How will top schools see 2 years of 2 languages?

Hi everyone. Im a rising Junior and in my freshman and sophomore year, I took Chinese 1 and 2 and last year, my school offered Chinese 3. This year they are not offering the course anymore so I either have to stick with the 2 years of foreign language or take 2 years of another language. I am going to be taking French in my next 2 years and I was wondering how top schools will view this?

As something out of your control. Make sure your GC includes this tidbit on the secondary school report.

In an ideal world, the school would offer Chinese through level 4 or 5. In the less than ideal world, the school will offer a dual enrollment option with a local community college or you could seek out the opportunities on your own.

If those are not options, while hardly ideal, a prospective college will not fault you for the shortcomings of your school/district.

Take it at a university. Some schools require 3 years, some like Harvard require 4.

The thing is I do not have the opportunity to do that because of my travel schedule so this is literally my only option.

As was stated in post #1, have your GC address it. You will not be knocked for that.

Thank you very much guys!

Since it’s out of your control, like others said, have your GC address it. It shouldn’t be held against you since it wasn’t your choice to only take 2 years. If you really want to have the extra year, take it over the summer or something at a community college.
