I know CR + M is very important for many top tier schools, so I'm wondering how they'd view a semi-lower CR + M and a perfect W.

If they only consider CR+M than you will not be quite as strong. If they consider all three sections it won’t matter that Writing is the highest. It generally doesn’t matter if there’s a huge disparity in your scores unless one of them is so low that it puts you completely out of range. Most scores that frequently admit 2200-level applicants do consider Writing, though of course there are exceptions (Cornell comes to mind). I have a similar disparity (I have the same math and writing score but my CR score is a little higher so there’s not quite as much of a difference) and I don’t see it being too much of a problem.

I might suggest taking the ACT because I got a 690 SAT math and a 34 ACT math. My friend that also got a 34 ACT math got a 760 SAT math. The ACT math may work better if you like problems that are harder but more straightforward, unlike the SAT that is confusing at times but not very advanced.

Thanks for the comment, Grape1. I took the ACT and got a 33 composite. Only issue is I completely failed the essay for some reason. Do you think I should retake a 33 ACT to get a higher essay, or a 2200 SAT to get a higher math/CR? And I need to take two SAT subject tests, which I’m not looking forward to…

Why so many tests? :(
