I got a 2200 on my SATs, but it was really only because my writing score was an 800. Math and CR were both "low"- 690 and 710. All the schools I'm looking at admit scores around/slightly below the 2200 range, but I'm afraid that the low CR and math will hurt me since the score is 1400 excluding writing. Do you guys think it's a huge deal; do most more "prestigious" colleges really look at writing?

You definitely need to get your CR and Math Scores up otherwise it will be highly unlikely for you to be admitted to top schools, even with an 800 in Writing

all right. I’m also uncertain because I’ve already taken the SAT 2 times. Both times I wasn’t prepared, so I know I can raise those scores, but it seemed obsessive to take it three times.
Thanks!

3 times is okay.

2 is optimal, but 3 won’t seem obsessive.

Plus, most colleges allow score choice. So, if you score higher in CR and Math, the majority of the colleges you apply to won’t see that you took the SAT 3 times.

Three times is fine. The 690-710-800 is fine for most schools. It depends where you are applying. It is true that many schools value the CR and M scores more than the W score because the feel as though they can judge your writing themselves by reading your application essays. Don’t obsess over the SAT scores, keep an eye on GPA, ECs and those application essays.
