I suppose whatever you do outside of school, but still within school boundaries like school sports, clubs, organizations and so on count as extracurriculars. It also has to be something you 'maintain' - a one-time thing doesn't count (for example, if you helped clean a park ONCE you'll be killing a kitten if you put it on your resum</p>
<p>Hmm. I'd say anything you continually do outside of going to class that makes you who you are. Even if it isn't school run or something. With the exception of Volunteering(which itself could be considered an ec, just not each individual act unless its one specific act you do) and work.</p>
<p>Extracurricular, if you look at the Latin roots means "outside the course." So an extracurricular is anything you do that's not schoolwork.</p>

<p>Extracurriculars=anything not done in school as part of a class, as stated above. Could be "appropriate" or not, if you get what I mean. Watching movies or hanging out with friends could be considered extracurriculars, but they are not exactly the most appealing extracurriculars to list on a college app, obviously.</p>
