How would you like to be welcomed?

Hi Everyone,

I am a sophomore at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

As a transfer myself, I know the adjustment can be difficult, especially when the focus is on incoming freshman. As transfer students what types of events (social and informational) would you like to have the week before classes begin on your campus? Are there specific things you would like to know about? How do you feel you would be the most welcomed?

I am helping to plan "Week of Welcome" at my school and I would like to focus on welcoming in Transfers and International students, as these groups are often overlooked.

Thanks!

Just social events, maybe have a transfer dinner or hiking trip or something of that sort just to get to know the other transfers better so that you already have a couple of friends and people to sit with at lunch and you don't feel lonely and awkward when school starts.

I agree, anything to get you talking to people...dinner, a trip, anything.

Also: It would be really helpful to have the credit system (how many credits each class is worth, how many credits you need to graduate) explained thoroughly. Individual schools have different policies, so it'd be great just to run through how the school handles that issue.
