Hi, this is my first time posting. Ok, so onto the good stuff. I am a highschool senior and my graduation is just around the corner. I am most likely going to give a speech at graduation. I haven't technically been cleared yet but i know i will be. The speech is cleared by some teacher or teachers. So anyway, the plan is i am going to give this person a fake speech. You all know, the sterotypical heartfelt ******** you hear at graduation. But, when i read my REAL speech it will be alot different. It is going to be the real version, the true version. I am going to tell those naive parents the truth about their kids. I am going to tell the truth about the teaching staff and administrators. It will be brutal, except for the few good teachers who i will commend. People will be stunned, and i don't care about the repracussions or how the speech is viewed. I just want people to know the truth for once. Yea...... so thats my rant. How would you react?

id clap

good on ya

if it was me, and I knew the truth, I would applaud with a non-emotional face.

For graduation? Haha, I don’t know… I know there’re tons of problems with high school, but I would want my last memory of high school to be something memorable (in a good, warm fuzzy way that is).

I will definitely applaud you for your audacity though.

Nah it would ruin graduation for so many people.

I wouldn’t do it. Judging by the area, odds are they’d get some security or something to take you off the stage, which could result in an arrest if you do not give in. I just don’t see it ending well. To add, yeah some teachers and staff deserve to be told off, but that is not the place. I think you need to move on; high school is done.

i’ll clap, but do not mention names of people(unless you are praising them).
also, think about the consequences. If the speech happens to be before you receive graduation paper, the administrators might not let you graduate.

I say you say what you want to say but not too “brutal”.

Why don’t you make a speech about the warmth community of people + teachers and staffs in high school and how its education has helped you get into college (I mean talk about your high school experience). And you shouldn’t care about what other people think of you because:
Where are you heading for college?

I support you doing this. Someone has some kahunas to do so.

Although I understand your intentions, it would probably just come off as spiteful.

This would be very rude, spiteful and immature of you. You will look foolish and people will be angry that you ruined an important occasion for them. If I were your parent, I would be very disappointed in you and there would be hell to pay! If I were your GC or principal, I would be compelled to report this to you future college. I strongly urge you not to do this!

I don’t think this is a good idea AT ALL. It’s GRADUATION! It should be happy and you should put HS behind you. ALL high schools have problems. Part of being mature is working through them and getting over it.

In theory, it’s a good idea, in execution, probably not so much. Here’s my advice: write the fluffy speech, but slide in your remarks that you want to say SUBTLY. authorial intrusion at its finest. :)

While I do agree that people deserve to know the truth, I don’t agree with doing this at a graduation. You’ll come off as a real ******* to some, and even those that support you now might turn on you after the speech is given. Sometimes it’s best to just leave people to their happiness, even at the cost of their ignorance about their kids’ lives.

Just move on dude. In all honesty, these people aren’t worth the time it would take you to write such a speech.

****, lol. You’ve got cojones, I’ll give you that.

I’d have my O face on, and inside, I’ll be celebrating. Outside though, I’d check what the general audience’s reaction is before I do anything incriminating. Honestly, I wouldn’t have much hope for your clean escape lol. There’ll be repercussions.

It’s ultimately up to you though.

Do it!!

That will be soooo good.

I would strongly recommend making sure you actually mean the things you are saying, and not being spiteful for the sake of being spiteful, and also not to flat-out making fun of people, especially other graduating students. It’s their time to be happy, and it would be terrible of you to try to take that away from them.

This idea has been in my mind for quite some time now but i don’t think i would ever have the jewels to do it.

More power to you, just be sure that it is the right decision.
