Anybody from Howard wanna give a breakdown on what the school is like, how tough to get in, what are the internship/employment opportunities? Thx.

Well. Howard University is a law school in Washington D.C that is currently ranked in the 3rd tier of U.S News. It is predominately black, as well as historically so. As far as getting in, well..a lot of black students who get rejected actually get into higher ranked schools, which is odd for most. Though it is still relatively easy to get into. Howard is one of only a small number of law schools that have produced a U.S Supreme Court Justice(Thurgood Marshall).

Howard's job placement for it's ranking is fairly good. 11.9% of it's graduates go on to BigLaw.

I'm not sure of it's bar passage rate.

If a black student were thinking of going to a third tier, I think Howard is probably the best bet.

How about for a white student?

I'm sure they graduate white students from the law school, but I'm not exactly sure if the benefit from the university like the black students.

The entire reason big law comes to Howard is because they can find black students. White students get no benefit.

How do you know this? Lawschoolnumbers?

Mr. Payne is right that big law does recruit at howard because if they are looking for balck students they know where to find them in addition to Haward having a really light alumni network. There are students that turn down higher ranked schools to attend howard (especially if they can get a free ride).

there is a big thread about Howard law on the black law student discussion group lawschooldiscussion.org
