Howard University or Florida A&M

I am currently a college sophomore at Ga state university majoring in Broadcast Journalism (Radio/TV) with a minor in Music. I played in the band for 9 years (Middle School/High School/ and at Hampton as well) and hope to continue pursuing that at Howard or Florida A&M.
I transferred from Hampton University majoring in Music Technology (now my minor) (Fall 2009-Spring 2010) and I am now at Ga state University. I am looking at either Florida A&M or Howard University. I am trying to get the transfer scholarship at Howard University since I have over 33 credits and a 3.96 GPA but my thing is it is 11 hours away from home, don't know about the dorms and safety that well. On the other hand, Howard has a great Communication school in radio and I want to go there. Florida A&M is closer to home, cheaper, has a great music program/band, great dorms, and I know people/friends there. On the other hand, is it going to get me where I need to go in the communication field or like Howard is.

Please give me suggestions or feedback.

Thanks

Sounds like you prefer Florida A&M.

The music business and music education is a competitive field, so wherever you get your degree from, you’re going to have to hustle.

Incidentally, from the little I know about FAMU music, the marching Rattlers band is world famous. Can’t say I’ve ever heard any comment about the band or music at Howard.

That is true. But I’m only doing band for scholarship as far as music. My career field is broadcast journalism and I’m trying to decide between the two schools. I’ve been doing my research both are great. So I guess right now I’m just banking on scholarship money at the end of the month and quality dorm rooms.

Ok it seems like there is a clear choice of the best university to attend in my opinion. My screen name says it all “famukid21” I LOVE MY COLLEGE OF LOVE AND CHARITY, that is placed on the HIGHEST OF SEVEN HILLS in Tallahassee, Florida!! Yes, educationally Howard may have a better ranking than that of FAMU BUT, college is all about networking and i see no better place to network than my ILLUSTRIOUS UNIVERSITY FLORIDA A&M which is clearly the LARGEST HBCU in the STATES! Home to 13,000 students and 422 acres! we have over 62 bachelors degrees and all of there are fully accredited 32 masters degrees and they are all fully accredited as well and we also have about 9 doctoral degrees. when one speaks about FAMU you speak about prestige, happiness, love, FAMU-ly, PRIDE AND JOY!! It takes much pride to be a FAMU RATTLER!! Chose the clear choice FLORIDA AGRICULTURAL AND MECHANICAL UNIVERSITY EST OCTOBER 3RD, 1887…WHAT!!!

Thanks!! Still researching though.
