Howard University

I certainly consider Howard University to be one of the most prestigious Historically Black learning institutions in the country. I am very interested in their BS/MD program and am wondering what chance do I have at acceptance.

I'm a black male

1360 - SAT1 (retaking, expecting 1400 at very least)
National Achievement Semifinalist (Finalist Hopeful)
GPA 3.8
Will have 55 College credit hours by High school Graduation
100+ hospital community service hours

If anyone is currently participating in their program could you please tell me how it is.

Thanks a lot! :D

u will get in.
unless u write a God awful essay

well, the only concern would be reverse-discrimination would give a white male a much better chance at a school such as Howard University

I think you're juss looking for attention!!! :) Howard isn't that hard to get into. The avg. GPA for Accepted students to Howard is 3.1 and SAT 1080. And the acceptance rate is 56%. Come on man...you know that...

Young1 I think you can do better than Howard.

Yeah, PSedrishMD is right. Not to belittle Howard or anything, but I think you should set your sights a little bit higher.

Howard's BA/MD program will be much tougher to get in though, compared to the statistics posted above for regular admission, so young1 might be at an appropriate level. How do you have 55+ college credits though? Wouldn't that put you somewhere in your Junior year in college?

In response to whightknight, Ive been taking courses at state college for a little while now. While Im not sure which semester of college this would put me, I know college costs are soaring (it doesn't help that I have 3 siblings on their way either), and Im not trying to attend any longer than I have to, it's one of my many reasons for giving the BS/MD programs so much thought. I know I want to become doctor because its one of the few things I can see myself doing and enjoying, and I dont want to grow too old doing it (please forgive me if that sounds immature).

In response to LBC05 and PSedrishMD, I genuinely respect your opinions and only ask that you clarify them. Howard University might not be very competitive, but I've been told that their program is. Should I be looking at another BS/MD program? Another school?

Young1: If you're in the DC area, why not include JHU, Georgetown & Geo Washington? If its got to be a combined pgm, look up I95 to Brown. Howard isn't a bad place to be, but on the list of about 125 ranked U.S. schools, it's not in the upper or middle echelons.

Can anyone enrolled in the bs/md program chance me:
