I’m having a wonderful time. So many friends made already, and we don’t even “party” that much. Just kind of hang out/jam and go to campus events. My classes are good so far for the most part, and my major program is awesome. Woooo! …entire dorm room is really messy though because my roommate and I are like the same person and we leave crap everywhere xD

No comment on that last bit… All I can say is “so far, so good” haha.

sopranokitty, you’re going to UCD as well, right? why are you not moving in until the 18th? you’ll be missing the welcome week festivities on the 16th and 17th

Ah, man, everyone’s all moved in already. I still have three more weeks. I feel so lonely without my friends, and they’re all too busy with their welcome-week activities to skype until some time this weekend. Just hoping these next few weeks go by fast, and that I won’t forget to do/pack anything critical. xD

And I’d say give it a few more weeks. Once she starts having roommate troubles or getting homesick or realizing she’s behind in her classes, the threads’ll start right up again.

I’m not crazy about it so far. So I’m transferring next semester to finish within two years. The school just isn’t a good fit from what I’ve experienced thus far and I feel like having a roommate in an apartment would be so much better than a dorm. But, you learn from experience, I guess. I’m gonna join some clubs to keep myself occupied so hopefully the semester will go by quickly.

@ Hella: I’m not moving in until the 18th because that’s when my housing move-in date is (I’m in the residence halls). I’m from southern California and my mom’s helping me with the moving process, and we can’t be up there until late Saturday.

BTW, I’m not gonna miss welcome week festivities. It’s from Sept. 17 to Sept. 25. I’m looking at the welcome week schedule here and don’t see anything regarding the 16th and 17th there.

@ OP: since iluvpiano’s gonna be an incoming college freshman, I find her many questions valid. After all, it’s natural for freshman to ask questions about what the college experience will be like.

Hahaha everyone, very funny comments about my threads…I haven’t found the need to go on here and ask questions, I know people at my college, upperclassmen who can answers questions if I need them. It’s normal to have questions.

I never really minded her threads…its all the other ones that dissolve into the proverbial chest beating match about who need psychological help that annoy me!

Back to the topic of the thread, I’m settling in just fine. My dorm is all set up (and everything I brought here fit just fine, contrary to what some people said even after narrowing down my list of stuff. It’s all about HOW you organize the room to fit a bunch of stuff). We started classes this past Monday. I know most of them, but some (such as ensembles and piano lessons) are still being scheduled because of auditions and stuff, so those will start next week and then my schedule will be finalized.

Well, an hour after I got everything in the dorm the earthquake came, and I was barely unpacked. We Virginians suck when it comes to any natural “disaster” we are not prone to (i.e. everything). I had to evacuate my dorm from 2 to 6 pm, which was rediculus since it is only a few years old.

[side note: I fear what we Virginians and east coasters will do with hurricane Irene. Goodness gracious , we make things so much more dramatic than they should be.]

So, I only partially unpacked then, and I finished today. I am completely settled though. It’s been fun thus far. =)

Everything seemed to fit all nicely and comfortably for me too last year in the beginning. Wait until later, and especially May, after you’ve acquired a ton of stuff and now you need to move it all out.
