I think B's are probably acceptable, but C's might be noticeable.

I think straight B's would be safe if you are already accepted to a school, ranisparkle.

Hmm, I think they understand that during 2nd quarter it's lots of homework AND applying to college. It won't hurt you, no.

That's true. Hopefully they'll see that. Of course, there are people out there who can handle all this and get A+'s. I'm not one of them.

Got straight As first quarter (on a 94-100 scale) which was good... I just barely made it in Comp Sci, my grade jumped up because of the last test. One cool thing about our school is that the multivar class isn't "college level" it's a college course! We had the chance to pay a registration fee that make it count as a college credit from a local college, how cool is that?

2nd quarter is looking alright, but we'll see. I did pretty poorly on the first multivar test, so that might drop my grade a bit - which would be terrible, considering it will count as transfer credit!

That's how it is with my Calc class, too, only I haven't put it on my apps because a.) there's no space to adequately explain the relationship and b.) they would require a transcript from the college I get credit from, and the set up for dual credit is SO incredibly confusing that getting a transcript would take weeks and probably over $20. I'd rather them think it's just a normal AP class and reveiw my app right away instead of thinking it's "incomplete" because I didn't send them a transcript. The SLIGHT edge I might get isn't really worth it, and plus I think they might say something about it on my high school transcript, so that might take care of it anyway.

Heh. I remember on this year's Miss Teen America (or something of that nature) the announcer was introducing the girls, with names and little impressive tidbits of information, and the guy was like, "And here's Miss State, who wants to study medicine at University College, who has earned TWO SEMESTER COLLEGE CREDITS while she's already in high school!!!OMG!!!!1" And I was like, "Heh. Amazing!"

I think my point is that we're cool and dogs drool?

Ugh. That post is full of incorrect idioms. Sorry about that.

okay good, because i am like 89 across the board right now ahha

For you guys who were talking about Calc 3 (Multivar) as a college class, I hate to burst your bubble, but if a class appears on your high school transcript, Stanford WILL NOT take it for transfer credit. I know that my class was through Univ. of Colorado-Denver, and I asked Stanford if they would take it, and they said no. It appears on my high school transcript and is not an AP class, so I decided not to pay the registration fee for a class that, if things go my way and I get into Stanford, I will not be able to use.

Yeah, I wish senior grades counted more too.

Scale: 94-95 is A-
96-97 is A
98-100 is A+
What's the most common grading scale? I've heard of schools with 90-100 as an A and schools with 95-100 as an A, and I was wondering if a 94-100 scale helps or hurts for admissions.

it doesn't matter what scale your school uses, the colleges will recalculate your GPA. I'm pretty sure they use the standard 100-90 (4.0), 80-89 (3.0) scale.

Anyways, wow your grades are awesome. The mid-year report will really help your chances.

Tigerfan:

That's why stanford has epgy. All EPGY university-level courses can be used for college credit if the student ends up matriculating at Stanford.

Economics (No AP offered unfortunately...) - 99
Wind Ensemble - 100 (duh, no one cares about that =p)
AP Calc BC - 99, probably 100 at end of semester
AP English Lit - 96
AP Computer Science AB - 99 (this is a 2nd year class at my school, and I didn't take 1st year)
AP Physics C - 97 ish

These definitely continue the upward trend of my grades. Hopefully colleges see those midyear reports =D

I'm so glad that my school is 90-100 and doesn't have an A-, A, A+ scale.

Of course, I'm sure if it were 95-100 I would just work HARDER and get that A. But as it is now, it's really easy to figure out how many points you can get off and still have an A... so it's preferrable.
