Hey Class of '11, I just wanted to hear how you were adjusting so far and if Penn was everything you thought it would be. Dorms? Food? Orientation? Workload? Curriculum?

Wow, I haven't been on CC sooo long.
OK so here is how Penn is going:
Dorms: They are OK. Nothing special but I find that I usually just sleep in my dorm room.
Food: The food is gross!!!!! I have lost a few pounds since I have gotten here and I get a lot more exercise since my classes are like on the other side of campus. They seriously need to get rid of whoever supplies the food. Yale has gotten rid of them and we should too. The employees too are horrible!
Orientation: It was fun and now that I think back, I don't remember much of it.
Workload and Curriculum: Its quite a bit but I am in engineering...I think everyone though has quite a bit of work.

i've absolutely loved it:
Dorms: my room is HUGE.. i don't even know what to do with all my space. i'm in the quad (definitely get into the quad) in an awesome hall
Food: i guess the food could be bland after months of it, but i'm still enjoying it. i'd say it's like sweet tomatoes / souplantation / fresh choice but with more meat options.
Orientation: AWESOME. definitely try and apply for a pre-orientation program if you want to have a ton of friends going into orietnation before all the other freshmen arrive
Workload and Curriculum: all depends on what you major in and what you choose to take

Dorm: Sufficient.
Food: I honestly don't think it's that bad. You just have to know what (and where, like Hillel even if you're not Jewish) to eat and what to avoid.
Orientation: So much fun. Pre-orientation programs are so so so worth it.
Curriculum: There's more than enough options to take whatever you want.
Workload: Agreed, it depends on your classes. I haven't seen my engineering friends since NSO.

dorm: I love having a single. I always hang out at other people's place and then I can just go back to my room whenever I feel like crashing.
Food: I feel its pretty *ty ( the only excpetion being hillel...go there even if you're not jewish, I'm catholic and I'm tehre all the time. The people are way chill there). The employees at all the food places ( except hillel) are **y as hell, jsut ignore them. Try to eat healthy. Eat 6 small meals a day. Don't gorge on deserts, and learn that just becuase its all you can eat, doesn't mean you have to.
oreintation:OK, people overhype it though.
Curriculum and workload: Manageable. Some class are going to need a lot more work than others, but you cna manage if you know how to manage your time.

PS. Girls in the ivy league are pretty ****ty, get used to it.
