So as of now, I put Santa Catalina as my first choice for dorms, mainly because it's nice, off campus, and I can get some interaction going on in there. However, doing well academically is just as or even more important to me as I'd like to get into the Honors program, but getting a 3.6+ is probably easier said than done and I was wondering if dorming in FT is realistically going to be a serious distraction for me. I mean I'd love to room there, but doing well in school is a bigger priority than partying. Then again, I don't want to end up in Manzanita where it's literally like a church compared to the other dorms. I'd probably get work done there but there's only one freshman year. Thanks.

There are LOTS of study rooms in FT. One massive one, and five or six smaller ones.

Its easy.

I’m gonna create a photo album of FT (rooms, hallways, study rooms, views) in a week or so. . .look out for that.

Thank you Lemon!!! ;D

My suggestion would be to do the bulk of your studying in the library, saving the dorm for writing up labs or something else that takes time but not that much concentration. Doing this lets you create bubbles in your mind; the one at the dorm is a fun place, the one at the library is for quiet concentration. A number of articles you can find on studying suggest doing it in a place that is quiet, free of distraction, etc. Also riding your bike (or taking the bus) between the dorm and campus provides a time of transition; I used to enjoy the feeling of unwinding as I biked home from the library.

that would be awesome Lemon!

getting over a 3.6 is easy as hell, but i don’t live in F.T.

Ill post the album later this week (after I am done with my comm paper. ughhhhhhh)

add me on facebok if you are just dying to see other pics of ucsb and dorms in general haha

oh yea.

and for studying. . .if i were you, i’d read this book for the summer:

[Amazon.com: How to Become a Straight-A Student: The Unconventional Strategies Real College Students Use to Score High While Studying Less (9780767922715): Cal Newport: Books](http://www.amazon.com/How-Become-Straight-Student-Unconventional/dp/0767922719/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpi_1)

and maybe a couple of the author’s works and blog here: [Study Hacks](Study Hacks - Decoding Patterns of Success - Cal Newport)
