How's the food & the teachers?

How's the food at Umich? Are the teachers nice and caring or just careless bastarDS?

Ann Arbor has some of the best restaurants!

Ok...what do you mean by teachers...professors or GSIs?

KB

Like undergrad professors...

for the most part they could care less about you...the people who care more about you personally will be your GSI's...they are the ones you'll have personal contact with.

Depends who you are. If you're honors, teachers treat you like they would their own children (in my experiences anyway). I've had personal relationships with each of my profs basically. Especially the ones that double as academic advisors because they're interested to see what your academic passions are.

that's the exception i'd say...chibears is in upper level math, which is a comperable community to the RC in terms of size and personal attention. I think this kid is asking about whether his soc 100 prof will give a ****....the answer is probably not.

same with stuff like bio and chem and what not...could careless...blah! besides nolta...if u ask her a lot she'll help u out...but yea its ur GSI's or nothin

when i visited i ate in west quad and the food was pretty good compared to most college food

what about the ross teachers?

...what are gsi's anyway???...

most of the teachers aren't that hot

Relative to what? Michigan dorm food is edible, but it is not good.

As for Michigan professors, at the lower levels, they care about students who are engaged and interested but they do not suffer fools. They will put as much effort as trheir students...no more and no less. At the upper levels (300 and 400 level classes), professors are genuinely caring. I had professors like George Johnson, Charlie Brown, James Adams etc...who were really caring and legitimately down to earth. But one must remember that Michigan is a research university, just like Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, MIT and Stanford. Professors at those universities have an obligation to their research, their PhD students and I dare say to the World. They are the ones who are responsible for a significant portion of humanity's breakthroughs in many life-altering fields. So one must remember that faculty members at those esteemed universities are busy.

If you really want a lot of personal attention, a much smaller, non-research college makes more sense...but your professors won't be as "cutting edge".

D's experience in the School of Music is that the professors are nurturing, concerned and give loads of personal attention. She is a freshman Voice Performance major. I'm doubtful she could imagine a better group of mentors.

Regarding food...she's ready for home cooking!

GSI's are graduate student instructors. The Ross teachers better be good with how much they get paid (like $150k on average).

hahahahaha....GSI's aren't that hot statement by cherrybarry....my psych GSI was hot...that's the only one i can say tho that was lol
