<p>How's the social life in Syracuse University? Is there a lack of diversity? How's the Asian American crowds in SU?</p>
<p>Nope. Not a lack of diversity, lack of mixing. There are a lot of Asian Americans, mostly Korean, but there's a stigma attached: they tend to stick to themselves and tend to only speak Korean.
I like the social atmosphere. I think there's something for everyone. I'm not into greek parties, but I'm up for a good dance party or movie night and that's always available to me. The bar scene is always hot, and there are lots of outdoorsy things to do (yes, even in winter).</p>
<p>threekids...is there tennis, running for people who like to do those activities for fun and not compete.</p>
<p>People form groups for those things all the time. Intramural sports and recreation classes are available, but i'm not sure which ones.</p>

<p>freeze: I just checked the SU website and apparently, they use an indoor facility for club tennis, but it looks like it's a private facility.(and not sure what they use for intramural tennis)..there are outdoor courts as well.....Not sure, but good question to ask on Monday...are you visiting?...NM, just found the facility.....</p>
<p>How's life for those that don't drink? Heard that there is heavy drinking in Syracuse U.</p>

<p>I don't drink. I found friends who accept that, and a lot of people who would drink if the situation arose but generally like other things more. I felt a little awkward early on, but if you don't act like you're judging them, and make it obvious that it's just a preference, you're fine. I wouldn't say it's a heavy drinking school.</p>
<p>RMC: I'm sure the lack of intermixing is mutual. People stick to their "groups." I just meant that that was a stereotype that has formed. It's an unfair generality that promotes the division between ethnic groups.</p>
<p>Hows the weed? I have my medicinal license here in California, does New York do that?</p>
<p>Is there an ultimate frisbee team? If not I'm starting that.</p>
<p>okay, as for the tennis--you can take classes (FREE) or just use the facilities at drumlins...yes it's a private club but we have an agreement with them, and there's also a free bus. we have varsity women's tennis and both men and women's at the club level. there's squash and racquetball indoor at archibold gym, and outdoor tennis courts on campus over by the women's building. but drumlins rocks.
the social life is great. i'm not a greek but if you're into it it's good and it's there. there's plenty of non greek parties which are fun, lots of cool music hangouts (like funk on campus or places in armory square)...there are a ton of festivals and stuff too...ny state fair in the fall; the film festival is coming up in a few weeks, etc etc. always TONS to do, and most of it's free. there's always carousel mall/theaters too, and university union does a good job organizing concerts and free movies pretty much every weekend.</p>
<p>we have both men's and women's ultimate frisbee...the teams are really active; both went down south for tourneys over spring break...they travel every couple of weeks; guys went to one in vegas a few weeks back, too. and i don't think medicinal is legal here...</p>
