Hi.. I've been looking at these 3 laptops... they all have their pros and cons.. and I'm not able to decide which one to buy..
Any advice?

What are you going to use your computer to do? What is your budget? How savvy of a computer user are you?

i plan to major in econ / industrial engineering…
budget would be upto 1300 or so… - all three fit the budget

what i like about the TM2t is the fact that you can keep taking notes in your handwriting, twist the screen etc… but, i have always wanted to try out a mac…

macbook air- very light…looks great… have an issue with the lack of some features though… (esp the fact that it has only 3 slots)

Macbook Pro - more features as compared to macbook air…

They all have a good battery life…

I’m not too savvy, but i’m not bad with computers either… i mean i’m not into software design etc… but can fo all the work i need to do… I’d like a good looking laptop btw, and something that isnt bulky.

…anyone?

I don’t know much about the TM2T, but I’d definitely go with the 13" MBP over the 13" Air. The extra thinness and slightly lighter chassis of the Air isn’t worth it imo. I’d rather have a little more power.

yeah… `and tm2t on the other hand is very very bulky.

I don’t know much about the tm2t, but I’d recommend mac over PC unless you’re using it for a major where PC is preferred (business, etc). Conversely, definitely get the mac if you’re a film/music major, where macs are the norm. I like my mac because it just WORKS, without much hassle and pain like my previous PCs have caused me.

As for Air vs Pro… have you considered the standard white macbook? It has decent specs – the current generation has better specs than last year’s 13" pro – and is $200 cheaper. The air, while it is pretty, is not as powerful and doesn’t have as many ports as the pro or the regular macbook. The white macbook in my opinion isn’t as pretty as the pro, but de gustibus non est disputandum.

If you plan to do industrial engineering expect a lot of the specialist software you’re going to need to use in your later years to only be for windows-based computers.

Any reason why you want a touchscreen computer? If you don’t absolutely need the feature, you can get a much better computer for the same price.

i basically want it because its got both - touchscreen as well as a regular keyboard.

With the touchscreen feature, you can fold the screen and write on it in your own handwriting, without having to carry notebooks etc around… and everything will be stored in one location.

Secondly, the college i’m looking at has stated that it “prefers” Dell and apple. Does this mean i’m going to have issues with an HP?

and yes, I wouldn’t mind the regular macbook either! They all look pretty much the same.

As of now, i think the macbook air is out… because of its limited functionality…

Btw, would there still be the mac/windows issue if i load windows on the mac?

I would say go with the Macbook Pro, but after mine fell and I saw the price it was to repair something a PC would be “minor”, I realized I made the wrong choice.

Luckily, it was fixed for free as a courtesy.

Think of it this way, can you afford it now, and lets say 2-3 years when something breaks?

It’s like buying a luxury car, you pay the price for everything…

ANYWAY: I do enjoy the reliability and compatibility and not having to download drivers and what not as I used to with a Windows based PC.

You get reliability, compatibility, ease of use, aesthetics and many more for your price…

AND you can use Mac OS and Windows…

SO as said before, if you can afford it in the long run, get it.

AND sorry for the all-over post, it is WAY past bedtime.

Go for Macbook Pro 13.3" . HP sucks , honestly .
