HS class of 2020 parents: age census

Just for a curious census, how old are you, HS class of 2020 parents? If you’re not comfortable with a specific age, drop the generation (baby boomer, Generation X) or year range.

@whatiskkaebsong

Why do you want to know?

As an HS senior, I’m curious how my parents fit into the population of other parents. I’m really just curious!

I am 48, I’ll be 49 when my D20 graduates. She’s my oldest.

How old are your parents?

56 and 59, I’m wondering how old that is compared to my peers’

I was 56 when my second child started college…and 60 when she graduated.

Not really your business. If you’re in hs, why not just look at peers’ parents’ ages.

@whatiskkaebsong, your parents are roughly, though not exactly, the same age as our 2020 son’s parents (my husband and me  ). And at his school there are at least a dozen sets of 2020 parents in that very tight age range.
He’s our youngest.

My husband and I will be in our late 50s when our son starts college, and in our 60s when his younger brother starts college.

I have many friends who will be close to 60 when their kids are in college. Much more common these days.

DH and I were 58 and 57 in 2015 when our kiddo graduated from HS. That didn’t appear to be uncommon.

My wife and I are 38. It probably puts us in the youngest parents here.

I will be 51 when DS20 starts college. I still have a 5th grader at home and will be 59 when he goes.

I’m in an area where that’s on the older side…especially the 59, but this is a place where a lot of people are done with adding to their family at age 34 instead of starting.

Our 6th kid (of 7 )is a senior. We are 57 and 59. We were 43 and 45 when our oldest graduated from high school, and will be 60 and 62 when our youngest graduates.
Fwiw, we have been mistaken more than once for our youngest two kids’ grandparents. ( And we actually are grandparents now.)

my kid is in a group at school- and I know the ages of the parents of the seniors. The ages range from 40 - 57. just thought I’d throw that out there to show there is such a wide range everywhere.

We were 40ish when our oldest was a sr in high school. We had a toddler and our youngest hadn’t even been born at that time. We will be early 60s when our youngest graduates from high school.

I was 39 when my oldest graduated from high school in 1988. I will be 73 when D22 graduates from high school. (Yes, she and my 3 currently in college were adopted.) I also have 6 grandchildren and 2 nieces, all of high school to college age. I’m quite used to people assuming that I’m the grandma of my youngest 4 kids.

Dh and I are on our last of 4 going to college. We are gen Xers.

We’ll be 44 and 46.
