DS & I attended a Temple info session last Feb. The person running the session said the school is ok with whatever courses a student's hs requires for graduation. Temple's website says 4 yrs math. DS's hs only requires 3 yrs. He hopes to apply to Tyler for either graphic design or illustration. He's taken Geometry, Alg II & Trig. Sr. yr would be either Pre-Calc or AP Stat. Does he need the 4th yr?? I've tried calling Temple but can't seem to get through to an admissions counselor. Also emailed but haven't gotten a reply yet. Son's GC needs an answer asap.

Since he has already fulfilled the math requirements I would say he would be fine not taking a math his senior year especially because he hopes to apply to Tyler which requires more portfolio work than math classes. I took College Prep Alg. 1, College Prep Geometry, College Prep Algebra 2, and College Prep Trig / Pre-Calc, however, my school only required 3 years of math. It always “looks better” to have the 4th year of math, but since he is going to for the Arts it’s not that big of a deal. If, he was going for engineering or business then I would highly recommend the 4th year of math.
