Hi,
I was referred to this page to pose this question. Please let me know your thoughts on the Below

Recently DS has been sending out summer apps that requires HS Transcript. I decided to request a copy for myself and I just opened the envelope whoa! there were 8 pages. The first 4 pages had elementary through Middle school info. The last 4 pages had HS info. Additionally the Florida Comprehenisve tests DS took from 3rd -8TH grade were listed along with the SAT he took in 7th / 8th Grade through the Duke TIP program.

DS has been through public schools since KG.

I'm curious to know from you parents what's customary on your kids transcript.

I attend a public high school in eastern Massachusetts, and our transcripts only include information on our high school grades and classes. Ours is nothing like your DS's.

I get a page print out. It just shows HS grades, all the schools I've been to, rank, and middle school classes that "counted" (For example, they won't put that I took Computers in 7th grade, but that I took pre-algebra and algebra, two classes which high schoolers can take). It also shows my PSAT scores (unfortunately).

So yeah, your DS's transcript is 8 times more detailed than mine. I think that's good, because it shows your counselor knows what's going on.

EDIT: I attend public school in the San Francisco Bay Area.

My high school has 2 page transcripts (they become 2 pages as soon as the student has gotten to Senior year), which lists a students course along with their grades in those courses.

The weighted academic GPA, FAFSA GPA, and weighted total GPA are listed. Of course, the rank is listed.

Mine has my rank, GPA, classes from 8th to 12th grade, class number, and just things like that. Usually you only see 9th to 12th on my high school's transcripts, but I took Alegebra I and Spanish I as an 8th grader. Some people go as far back as 6th, but not father. It only depends if you took high school classes during middle school or not.

Oh yes. She'll be admitted because of the FCAT scores! Sarcasm The Florida public education system has no idea on what is important in a student's educational record anymore. Maybe because FCAT is tied payroll they consider it important to college admissions. Sigh.

FCAT= Biggest Education Scandal Ever

Anyway, my HS transcript has grades only from 9-11 grades (unless it is a midyear report), the school grading scale and other assorted school and personal information like their College Board code# and my SS#. It also includes a school profile booklet that has statistical information about my school such as the class profile, SAT midranges, school history, honors/AP course catalog and the class rank policy, which basically says they never give out class rank under any circumstances.

thanks for your responses. I also received confirmation from the parents forum (where I initially posted) . I'll be following up with the school to get clarification.

DVM258- Got your FCAT joke lol!. I think because you attend a non public FL school, you happen to have a "normal transcript" :-). It seems from the responses that normalcy is 1 to 2 pages.

Nickel Xenon- He also had Algebra 1 and Spanish as an 8th grader and those are reflective. But elementary, middle and Immunization info on a transcript...come on....we need to help the trees:

Our district give grades from 9-12, doesn't mention standardized test scores(APs, ACT or SAT), includes attendance records for high school. It shows unweighted grades but includes a cumulative weighed average. Weighting formula is explained. Included in the envelope is a school profile.

You're only supposed to have high school stuff. The whole point of elementary through middle school, elementary especially, is that you can learn without worrying about grades! You should petition to have the previous stuff thrown out, coz it's just extra paperwork for the colleges to get rid of it themselves. Besides, more boys goof off before HS so I'm pretty sure the earlier grades and tests don't reflect on him as well.

Update from school: School advised they do NOT have "High School Transcript". Instead they have what is called "Student Academic Transcript" which reflects the student's academic history from KG- 12th Grade, and this is the transcript that gets sent to Universities.
