Hi all
Recently DS has been sending out summer apps that requires HS Transcript. I decided to request a copy for myself and I just opened the envelope whoa! there were 8 pages. The first 4 pages had elementary through Middle school info. The last 4 pages had HS info. Additionally the Florida Comprehenisve tests DS took from 3rd -8TH grade were listed along with the SAT he took in 7th / 8th Grade through the Duke TIP program.

DS has been through public schools since KG.

I'm curious to know from you parents what's customary on your kids transcript.

Not at our HS. Both my sons' HS transcripts were one page. They listed all the courses they took, the level, the grade, and the credits. GPA calculated at the bottom -- unweighted total GPA, unweighted academic GPA, and weighted academic GPA.

Public schools in the same town in CT from KG to 12.

Nothing on there from before 9th grade, and no standardized test scores.

I see transcripts for my 1st-yr. advisees and, at least in my experience, it's really unusual for them to be more than 2 pp. If you post in the "Admissions" forum, maybe one of the adcoms would give you a definitive answer about just how unusual this is.

whoa! totally way outside the norm. My HS transcript lists only high school courses and grades, my first ACT and my first SAT score (in my case I had only one of each). It also lists HS-level courses I completed in Jr. High (Spanish I, Algebra, Geometry, etc.). I've never heard of a school releasing elementary or Jr. High grades, let alone 7th & 8th grade SAT's that are supposed to go away, or state standardized test scores. If some of this info isn't advantageous, you might talk to the college & career center to see if there's an alternative form of the transcript they send out.

Thanks all for your response. I'll definitely followup with the school on Monday. As I too can't seem to see the relevance of all that prior to High School. Marathonman I will post in the Admission forum as well.
DCforME'- He also completed Spanish1, II , Algebra Geometry in Jr High and those are listed accordingly.

It just seems that if this is what they do in Fla, by the time adcoms get to the HS page of a transcript they'll just reject that kid. lol.

Wow! Ours is one side, one page, high school courses including any high school level courses taken in middle school, NYS Regents test scores, no other test scores.

One page transcript here, too. It lists all courses (IB, AP, Honors or state graduation req.) with grades, state graduation requirements met/not met (WASL, CP and HS and Beyond PLan), number of credits attempted/fulfilled, and gpa. One can ask the school to include test results, but I doubt too many kids request that.

You might want to check with the school. It could be that they sent you all information since you are parent requesting a personal copy of transcript... However, I would not expect that that level of detail is sent when applying to programs or colleges.

One page, 9th grade to date. Semester grades (alphabet grades) and gpa.
A 2-page info sheet telling about the school (# students in school, # students in the child's class, mid SAT range for the class, breakdown of class GPA by quartiles, AP courses offered, and a list of where students were accepted for the last 5 years), is also included with the transcript.

One page, classes taken grades 9-12. It lists honors, or AP. No SAT or ACT scores are on the transcript.

A high school profile (similar to dtex's description) is sent along which describes the school, average socioeconomic family status, racial breakdown, midrange SAT scores, It lists how many students took each course and how many received As, Bs, Cs etc. It also lists schools where students have attended over the last few years.

My daughter's school lists everything including elementary school. Every test, every grade, nothing is left out. Way too many pages and the high school information is at the very end.

One page, front and back. The only pre-9th grade information included is grades from high school courses taken in middle school, scores on state graduation tests taken in middle school (some people, for example, will take the state Algebra test at that point), and total community service hours, which includes all community service hours from both middle school and high school.

We have one page w/ high school grades, grades for all high school classes taken in middle school, NYS regents exam grades. Accompanying this is a profile for the school explaining curriculum (AP and honors classes available) and an explanation of the school’s no ranking policy. No SATs, ACTs or other standard test information.
FWIW I have a friend w/ a child in another school that typically included SAT/ACT/AP scores on the transcript. This information could be suppressed at request of the student.

Our high school requires the students to send the transcripts. They will electronically transmit to state schools but will not send to out of state schools. I opened one of the actual envelopes to check them. Everything is there - I think the colleges would be annoyed with having to look through so many pages to find what they need.

Ours has 2 pages but only contains h.s info except for classes taken in m.s that count toward h.s. (Alg.,Geom). It also lists the students overall gap and class rank plus school activities the student has been a part of..sports, clubs, band, etc. SAT scores are not on our transcripts.
