Human anatomy question and Pre-med question.

Hi there!
I was just wondering if anyone knew if it is recommended to take a human anatomy course if you are Pre-med and/or Biochem major? If so, which one? Is APK 2100C good?

Also which physics is it recommended that pre-med take?? Some one told me PHY 2053 ( Physics w/o calc 1), but I see on that most Ivy league medical schools require physics with calc or PHY 2048. Any suggestions?

What's the rule about using AP credit to cover lower level science labs (like CHM 2046L, PHY 2053L, PHY2048, BIO 2010L, etc)? What about AP credit covering English? If they do not recommend using AP credit to cover English which are good classes to take?

Any advice for Biochem major/Pre-med in general? :).

Thank you!

These are not complicated questions at all.

  1. Yes, you are recommended to take Anatomy prior applying to Med or dental School because many of the core classes for those schools include topics taught in APK2100C. Not an easy class but is not that hard, study is just required.
  2. You should take the physics class with calc if you are fine taking Calc 1 and 2. However, there is no school that asks for physics with or without calc, they just care about physics. At the end, it’s your call.
  3. Use this website [Office of the University Registrar](Office of the University Registrar) to see which AP class/exam confers AP credit, my recommendation is to use the AP credits instead of retaking the class in UF, I know some people that already have AP credit for a class but they retake it and end up with a bad grade, and then they regret taking the class again. AP English should not worry you if you have the AP credits for it, just use them and forget the English department at UF. Plus you get the Gordon Rule.
    GOOD LUCK!

Well I would but I didn’t mention I’m dual enrolled right now at High school and UF hoping to go to UF for undergrad.

Thank for all the help lr2010!!! It’s just that most medical schools don’t allow AP credit to be used for English (or at least the ones I check out.)

What about Horvath and Toth for Chem 2 are they really that bad or do you learn a lot from Horvath?

Actually, the only Ivy League med school that requires physics with calc is harvard and that is only if you apply through one of their multiple admission pathways. Otherwise, there is no other school that specifically requires physics with calculus.
