I don't think anyone should be attacking or judging the merits of any particular major. Different students have different interests, bring different talents and strengths. Engineers or chem majors may not have the kinds of skills an HOD major needs and vice-versa. It is the mix of students, with all their differences, that makes the community that is Vanderbilt.

Well said Bridie.

i know it is easy to get B's and low A's in HOD but A+'s are hard to come by

HOD is the easiest major on campus, I really have no idea how you can argue this. I am not even saying that they don't do work or have to write a lot of papers. But the work that is assigned to them is easy compared to A&S students. One of my hall mates is an HOD major and the assignments she has are ridiculous- almost like common sense. Even though paper assignments are long it seems like they are easy topics

i could arguably say that A&S students have it easy because they don't have to spend 4+ hours on fluid mechanics homework sets, but we all have to do what we have to do

HOD major I knew had to write a final paper on her grandparents...
The major is a joke.
Go A&S.

Bridie, what are the talents and strengths, besides coloring, an HOD major needs?

Cutting straight lines.

Good point. I forgot about that one.

HOD is da bomb diggity

You know HOD shouldn't be taken seriously when practically every single varsity athlete is taking it.

my girlfriend does it as well as economics. she is also an engage scholar who has been accepted to vanderbilt's law school, and was our high school's valedictorian. she has had internships at law firms and ta's as well.

point--it depends what the person who is doing it wants; because it may be what they like. i don't ridicule anyone for wanting to be an english professor or investment banker.

my girlfriend is in med school and she discovered the cure for cancer. at the moment she is researching the cure for aids is making great progress. she also works in a clinic in africa on the weekends and still manages to do amazing in school.

the power of the internet!

bottom line is. HOD IS A JOKE

Cowboy.ed, unfortunately, there are folks who will never understand the value of any kind of education other than the kind THEY consider important or relevant.

departed, try not to be a dick

because you are; and it's true

at any rate, i agree kelsmom

kelsmom, please explain to me the value of majoring in HOD.

thewaffleiron,
Didn't you know in some societies cutting straight lines and coloring within circles are considered important values?

if it were entirely worthless, no one would spend $50,000/year on it. just like if english and film studies weren't entirely...oh wait
my point is they interest different people on different levels.

good point, departed. don't forget about fingerpainting, as well.

If HOD is the easiest major, what is the second and third easiest (and in which Vandy Schools?)

Love the HOD is da bomb diggity comment!
