Humanities Research w/ a Professor

Hi! I noticed that all of the individuals who did research internships in universities during high school were in STEM areas, like programming or biology. I understand STEM research internship would involve data collection/logging, maybe cleaning out test tubes or something (I don’t know!) but not sure what a social sciences-focused internship would entail.

I do have a pretty substantial resume of involvement in international issue and nonprofits. I’m interested in international development and social justice. But how could I help professors with research? Could anyone who has done a humanities/social sciences/political science/economics internship with a professor talk about what they did? Looking for insight on what I can talk with professors about. The only thing I could think of is doing graphic design for fact sheets on their research.

Any thoughts?

Kids on CC worry too much about research in HS. Nobody is expecting you to do research in HS.
Talk to a Social Studies teacher and see if they have thoughts. See if your parents know any local professors.
Talk to a local politician/social justice group and see how you can get involved.
