I wish. The Valedictorian from my school this year got rejected with a 1470 (out of 1600) this year.

He was a National Hispanic Scholar, just not a merit finalist.

He was pretty mad given UF was one of his first choices and went to UVA instead.

ummm to my knowledge you need at least a 2180 on your SAT or a 33 on your ACT with at least a 4.0 UF GPA

i don’t know why i said 2180…i meant 2130

pretty silly to turn down UF because you didnt get into the honors college, dont the benefits wear off after sophomore year?

uva > uf. if he’s not going to get the benefit of taking honors courses, why would he go to the lesser school?

Is UF being less than half the price of UVA not a good reason? I turned down better schools than UF because I didn’t want to graduate with debt. Lo and behold, I had no debt upon graduation and I did some fairly good things with the money that I saved.

You needed a 2070 SAT or 33 ACT to get into the honors program this year. Since so many kids were qualified, I can see the requirements being raised for next year, though.

I hope they raise them to 2100 for all three sections.

That seems fair to me. A 700 on each section is pretty reasonable IMO.

Hume is in the middle of nowhere, the cost to live there is highway robbery, and the people who live there are pretty cliquey and start lots of drama. Don’t live there.

And they superscore the SAT, so meeting the requirements isn’t that hard. They don’t superscore the ACT though, which I don’t understand, but hey, it’s UF…

Virtually no good schools superscore the ACT, whereas most schools superscore the SAT.

With 4 sections on the ACT score increases from retakes would be much too drastic, making the ACT look less legitimate.

How does one more section than the SAT = a less legitimate score. If you are good at math and reading, that is 2/3 sections on the SAT but only 2/4 sections on the ACT, and if you are bad at science (which most people have most trouble with on the ACT) then you will fare better on the SAT and can get a higher superscore on that than the ACT.

MIT superscores the ACT.

I’m not trying to ignite the entire SAT vs. ACT debate, especially because I think both tests SHOULD be considered equally.

However, considering most schools don’t superscore the ACT, with the exception of MIT, there has to be some legitimate reason for this policy.

Maybe the SAT is more standardized, as in less score fluctuation in comparison with the ACT.

Still, I wouldn’t criticize UF for a policy widely employed by most schools.

Here is the list of schools the superscore the ACT

[Colleges that super score ACT : College Admissions Counseling](Colleges that superscore the ACT - BS/MD Admissions by College Admissions Partners)

I honestly couldn’t find a compiled list of colleges who superscore the SAT because virtually all colleges do.

Well I’m not just criticizing UF; I think it is unfair that many schools superscore the SAT but not the ACT. I doubt scores fluctuate more with the ACT than SAT. From my personal experience, they do not. I think they don’t superscore the ACT because it is not as popular as the SAT. By superscoring, colleges can boost their stats, and most people look at the SAT stats of incoming students to determine the general difficulty of admission.
