Hello everyone!
First of all, I am an international applicant. I already put on a similar post in the International student forum, but no one replied, that's why I came here.

I'm applying to the Upenn Huntsman Program Early decision with Financial Aid.
I understand that Upenn is 'need-aware' for international students. I also understand that you have to specify how much your family can contribute.

So my question is this, if the cost of attendance is $61,500 and my family can pay up to $21,500, do I get the full $40,000 if I am admitted? Can it be more or less that number?
Is it possible that I might get rejected because my family could only contribute $21,500 not something like $25,000 or another higher figure?

The FA process is too confusing, can anyone explain?
Thanks :)

Oh and by the way. I heard from someone that you can ‘negotiate’ after you receive your final decision… I don’t understand how this process works… any helP?

Yes, because Penn, is need aware to international students in the admissions process.

Penn states:

Regarding “negotiation”:

If you’re admitted, but the financial aid offer is still not enough to make attendance affordable, you can appeal the decision to the financial aid office and explain why you need more. You may or may not be successful.

But don’t think you can say, when you apply, that you can afford $40k, and then come back later and say, “Oops, we can really only afford $20k!” If they find you were dishonest, you will lose your offer of admission.

If you’re a citizen or permanent resident of Canada or Mexico, Penn is need-blind. (I’m sure you knew that, but just in case).

Good luck!

thank you everyone for your advice!
THank you Dodgersmom especially for the clarification, I think i understand now
And by the way ecouter, I’m from Korea… so Yeah… it’s kinda sad…lol
