I have two common app apps that are due november 1st, one of them is pretty much done while im using all the time I can to perfect the other one. I live in the midatlantic so there is the risk of power outages for the next few days. Should I risk it and keep working on the second one or and tweak the first one a bit, or should I just try my best to finish them up and send them ASAP?

Could there possibly be an extension? (I doubt it)

I’d ask the admissions offices or try to see if a mobile device could do it (just test your phone if you can). If you’re just editing an essay then you could upload it in its current state and work on it and just submit the other if your power goes out. However, I don’t know enough about 3G or 4G to say it would last through a hurricane…

Im applying to college park, and they did give an extension last year, but like Stanford is on the west coast so I am not sure if they would give an extension since the storm doesn’t really affect the majority of their applicants

You could fly in-land with your laptop and stay at a hotel with free wifi, and finish up your application.

Or, you can print your application now, and be ready to mail it by the Nov 1 deadline if you do loose power. If you don’t loose power, you can submit on-line the updated version.

Just keep working on your application. So far, the power is on and there’s no reason to burden yourself with the worry and anxiety. If the power goes out In your area and you can’t travel to another location where the power and Internet is available, pickup the phone and call those schools. Solve the problem when you have one…don’t wait for it.

I’m in a similar situation- I sent in all my applications except for one, which so happens to be due Nov. 1 for EA. I have to finish the supplement essay before I can submit it, and it won’t let me pay before I submit either the supplement or common app, but it says I can’t submit the common app until i submit the supplement, so I just have to finish the essay first. (haha I just re-read this and it sounds a bit confusing). But just know your not alone I’m not sure how long it takes the common app to process, but I’m hoping not that long.

I laughed! I’m in pretty much the opposite situation. I live in Colorado, so I never pay attention to hurricanes. Then I notice that my schools, which are all northeast/east coast are pushing their deadlines back (one of them, Fairfield, is now november 5) and I was so confused. I was thinking that perhaps they weren’t having the applicant numbers that they normally had, so they were trying to get more early desicion applicants. It took a few minutes for it to connect in my brain…whoops. haha.

But in response to your problem, I wouldn’t worry too much. And it sounds like you have it in the bag, pretty much.
