Warning about Deadlines for Apps

<p>As a longtime poster, I can attest that every year, students who wait until the last few hours to submit their applications electronically become distraught when either the system crashes or they run into unexpected computer problems.</p>

<p>Soooo seeing that lots of CC members apparently are still working on apps with Nov. 1 deadlines, my advice is that it's worth it to stay up late tonight and get those apps in by morning. If you wait until tomorrow evening, you'll probably join the hordes of angst ridden, hand wringing students who run into problems at the last second.</p>

<p>Yeah, I know. I submitted my EA apps on the 29th and the system screwed up, submitting all my apps (including RDs I wasn't sure that I would be applying to). Thankfully, I contacted the Common App, and they got back to me at 2:30AM on the 30th (b/c the system screwed up, they rescinded the RD apps as if they were never submitted). </p>

<p>However, I agree with Northstarmom Don't wait, the site is already having issues. If you join the horde on the last night, you're asking for it.</p>

i have a question though, my teachers submitted their recs offline and sent them in the mail so under school form status it says, Not All Submitted. is that ok?</p>

<p>I decided to wait 1 extra day to review my essays for USC. Of course I waited until the day the application was due. My hard drive had a 'disk error' that Dell said means I needed a whole new hard drive. I spent from 8AM-5PM in the library completely writing a new essay.</p>

<p>Subsequently, I was not accepted to USC. Go Terriers!</p>

<p>Quick question about deadlines. When it says EA deadline is 11/1, does that mean I can submit it ON 11/1? Just wanting to make sure. thanks!!!!!!!!!</p>

<p>Is the Yale deadline for Nov 1st 11:59pm for a fixed time zone for everybody around the world (like Eastern Time), or do they use local time zones?</p>

<p>Well I just sent in my application to Chicago (yay!) but they said it's until 11:59pm Nov 1 ANYWHERE in the world. In other words, find the place in the last time zone, and you have until it's 11:59 pm on Nov 1 at that place to submit it. But you should check with your specific school to see if they have the same policy.</p>

<p>You should finish your essay by the time you send in your application.</p>

<p>And most schools have either a Nov 1 or Nov 15 early deadline.</p>

<p>A good early time to shoot for would be 2 weeks before it's due.</p>

<p>You guys should definitely check with your particular school regarding what time the application is due. Brown, for example, is due at 5:00 PM, Eastern time, not midnight!</p>
