is it one-on-one or with groups?
around how many students grouped with the uconn student?
Last year my daughter was with one other student and the uconn guide. She enjoyed the day and is a guide this year.
The email I got said this:
Layout of the Day
Check-in begins at 8:30 AM outside the Student Union Theatre. Light refreshments will be provided and an informational presentation will begin at 9:00 AM in the Student Union Theatre. After the presentation, registered students will be matched with their UConn hosts. While with the hosts, students will attend at least one class, eat at a dining hall, and see a room in one of our residence halls. Parents and family can pick up registered students at 2:15 PM in the Student Union. Following pick-up, there will be a Learning Communities receptioin. More information will be provided on the day of the visit.
Parents and family members are invited to take a student-led walking tour of campus after registered students have been paired with their hosts. A Financial Aid presentation will also be offered in the afternoon following the tour. Detailed information regarding presentation times and locations will provided on the day of the visit.
@katniss1 Is your daughter happy with her choice of UConn?
She was looking to stay in New England, and wanted the large school atmosphere (and research opportunities). She visited UVM, UNH, UMass, URI, and UConn (and a couple smaller schools that she ruled out right away). UConn was her #1 choice by far. Turned out she was waitlisted last spring, but she called the admitiing rep and sent in another recommendation letter which may have turned the tide, as she was admitted within days after that. We are OOS, but used the Regional Tuition program to get a bit of a discount. She absolutely loves the school, has made lots of friends, and (after changing majors) enjoys her classes. The long cold windy walks to class - not so much love there!
katniss1, My daughter has been accepted at UConn and I am just wondering what the Regional Tuition Program is. We are OOS too.
@1964parent - if you are a resident of one of the other 5 New England states there are certain majors that offer reduced tuition. (If your home state schools don’t offer the major but UCONN does). Www.nebhe.org
Uconn gives about a 12K discount if your major qualifies
